Inspired by Prouvé’s original creation, we interpretationted the expert craftsmanship and authenticity with our Willet Barstool. This expertly-engineered stool features the same look and design attributes as Prouvé’s. In addition to using daily in your most oft-used spaces like the kitchen island or low pub table, you’ll enjoy showing off this stool as a conversation piece in your home.
Stools and chairs take the most strain on their back legs, where they bear the weight of their user’s upper body. Prouvé took this into account very succinctly when designing his standard seating, and our stool follows suit. Tubular steel piping is enough for the front legs that take relatively little strain, whereas the back legs are made of voluminous hollow sections and pass the strain on to the floor. The result? A stool that can stand up to the rigors of high traffic residential and commercial spaces and continuous daily use.
The stool features a classic combination of finishes to meld with many decors from eclectic to modern. A fine Natural finish on bentwood waterfall seat and back is supported by black finished metal frame. An alternate Walnut with black metal version is available.
This stool interpretation allows you to own and enjoy a classic modern icon without foregoing quality. We understand not everyone has ample means by which to attain such a piece. With that in mind, we offer our masterful rendition of Willet Barstool made with high-quality materials and careful craftsmanship at a modest price point. Among other such seating, the materials and expertise used to create our products are top quality.
Modern engineer-designer Jean Prouvé trained as an engineer early on but chose to explore other design-focused projects ultimately. This led him to create a very practical and respectable portfolio of designs from letter openers to buildings. Prior to engineering school, he trained and worked as a metalsmith which the skills he garnered would later become invaluable as he created his coveted chair, table and lamp designs. In addition to his Prouvé Standard Chair, the engineer-designer is known for his Potence Lamp, EM Table and Standard SP Chair.
